Error code is indicated: If error code such as E2,E4,E5,E6,F1,F2,F3,F4,F5,H3,H4,H5,PL,PH appears on the indoor unit display, turn of the appliance and disconnect from power supply, then contact the nearest Whirlpool Authorized Service Center. (H1 and SE is not error code, H1 is the indicator of defrosting during heating, SE is the indicator of power save function.)

Before calling for service, try the suggestions below to see whether you can solve your problem without outside help.

Problem

The Air Conditioner Will Not Start

Possible Cause

  • The air conditioner is unplugged.
  • The fuse is blown/circuit breaker is tripped.
  • Power failure
  • The power cord reset button is tripped.

Recommended Solution

  • Make sure the power supply cord is plugged into a grounded 3 prong outlet.
  • Check the house fuse/circuit breaker box and replace the fuse or reset the breaker.
  • The unit will automatically restart when power is restored. There is a protective time delay (approximately 3 minutes) to prevent tripping of the compressor overload. The unit may not start normal cooling for 3 minutes after it is turned back on.
  • Press the reset button located on the power cord plug. If the reset button will not stay engaged, discontinue use of the air conditioner and contact a qualified service technician.

Problem

The Air Conditioner Is Not Cooling Properly

Possible Cause

  • Airflow is restricted
  • The temperature control is not set correctly.
  • The air filter is dirty.
  • The room is too warm.
  • Cold air is escaping.
  • The cooling coils are frozen.

Recommended Solution

  • Make sure there are no curtains, blinds, or furniture blocking the front of the air conditioner.
  • Lower the set thermostat temperature.
  • Clean the filter. See the “Air Conditioner Care” section.
  • Allow time for the room to cool down after turning on the air conditioner.
  • Close all open doors and/or windows where warm air may be entering.
  • See “The Air Conditioner Is Freezing Up” below.

Problem

  • The Air Conditioner Is Freezing Up

Possible Cause

  • Ice is blocking the airflow.

Recommended Solutions

  • Turn off the unit and allow it to thaw until the ice has melted, then operate on a higher fan speed. If this continues to occur, contact customer service for additional help.

Problem

  • The Remote Control Is Not Working

Possible Cause

  • Batteries are inserted incorrectly
  • Batteries are dead.

Recommended Solutions

  • Check that the batteries are inserted in the correct direction.
  • Replace the batteries and dispose of them in a responsible manner.

Problem

  • Water Is Dripping From the Unit on the Outdoor Side

Possible Cause

  • The weather is hot and humid.

Recommended Solutions

  • This is normal during periods of high humidity. NOTE: Do not drill a hole into the bottom of the metal base pan; doing so will reduce cooling performance.

Problem

  • Water Is Dripping Inside the Room

Possible Cause

  • The air conditioner is not properly leveled.

Recommended Solutions

  • The air conditioner should slope slightly downward toward the outside. Level the air conditioner to provide a downward slope toward the outside to ensure proper drainage. See the “Installation Instructions” section. NOTE: Do not drill a hole into the bottom of the metal base pan; doing so will reduce cooling performance.

Problem

  • Water Collects in the Base Pan

Possible Cause

  • Moisture removed from the air is collecting in the base pan.

Recommended Solutions

  • This is normal. Water that collects in the base pan will evaporate to the outside air. This helps with the unit’s cooling process.

NOTE: Do not drill a hole into the bottom of the metal base pan; doing so will reduce cooling performance.
